Who Sucks? - Best Buy El Paso Sucks

I purchased an XBox 360 game, Final Fantasy XI, for my son from a Best Buy in El Paso, Texas. Before purchasing the
game I asked one of the store clerks what 'additional monthly fee' was necessary for playing the game. I was told that an XBox Gold account, which has an annual fee, was needed to play the game online.

Once at home we discovered that the additional fee was an undisclosed monthly fee that was required to play the game at all. After spending $60 plus tax on the game it was not playable without also paying more money to Square Enix via credit card on a monthly basis. The additional fee was not listed anywhere in the game documentation, nor was it displayed or otherwise revealed in the online sign up process.

I immediately took the game back to Best Buy only to have them tell me that since the game was opened they would not issue any refund or swap it for anything other than the exact same title. They essentially told me to try getting my money back from Square Enix.

I called Square Enix the following Monday only to have their representative laugh at me when I asked for a refund. He said it was against their policy to issue refunds and that there was nothing I could do about it. It took me twenty more minutes and two transfers to find out the monthly fee for playing the game.

Having no other options with respect to getting mymoney back, I gave in to my son's request to play the game and signed him up for the "free" 30 day subscription only to discover that the game sucked and he didn't even play it for two hours in twenty days. We uninstalled the game and cancelled the "free" subscription 21 days into the 30 day period.

The next month Square Enix billed my card. I called them and asked why they were billing my card and they claimed the subscription was not cancelled, and they would not refund my money under any circumstances.

As far as I am concerned Square Enix and Best buy has collaborated to steal my money. There was absolutely no value provided for more than $75 of charges. As for not being able to do anything about it, I will let this page speak for itself.
